AIRPORT INFORMATION - Millington has had a long and interesting aviation history. The first airport in Millington was established by the U.S. Army in 1917 and was used as a pilot training base throughout World War I. It became a pioneer in air mail routes when the war ended. In 1942, the Navy established a Naval Reserve Aviation Base (later Naval Air Station) here. In 1993, the Navy transferred the airport and almost 2,000 acres of adjacent land to the City of Millington.
